Storage

Retired aircraft are stored at Hemet and Fresno airports in California and Davis Monthan AFB in the Arizona Desert. The low humidity and alkaline soil provide a site for many years preservation. The aircraft are "reborn" through the Forest Service Contractors. Some Stoofs have been in service with the California Division of Forestry longer than their service with the U.S. Navy.
